US chemical plant fire

Dallas – A large fire at a chemical plant in southern Dallas causing thick smoke appeared, forcing hundreds of people in the city of Waxahachie is transferred on Sunday, fire officials said.

Fire at Chemical Plant Magnablend Inc. occurred at about 11 am and spread rapidly.

Waxahachie Fire Chief David Hudgins told reporters yesterday, 80 percent of the fire was brought under control.

Smoke from fires can be seen from a distance but no one was injured.

Some of those who moved were allowed to return to their homes on Tuesday afternoon, said a city spokesman Waxahachie, Amy Hollywood.

The plant produces various chemicals used in agriculture, oil production, commercial and industrial cleaning and water treatment. – Reuters
