Lack of vitamin D triggers colon cancer

Colorectal cancer or cancer that attacks the colon and rectum is said to quickly spread to other parts before the damage.

Although the cause of this cancer have not been identified, but a recent analysis showed a specific diet can reduce the risk of this disease.

According to a report in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, diet high in vitamin D can reduce colon cancer risk up to 33 percent.

In 18 studies involving more than 10,000 people found that those who took vitamin D is higher, lower risk for the disease.

However, Dr. Huanlong Qin and his colleagues from The Sixth People Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, says the findings can not be confirmed yet because not many studies that analyze the relationship between vitamin D and colorectal cancer is carried out.
